A female caring companion/support assistant is required for a young-minded 31 year old autistic lady. The young lady has limited communication, so patience, kindness and encouragement are required – aided by a good sense of humour.
The job entails meeting from daycare some weekends at 3.30 p.m. and accompanying home by car (if available ) or using public transport, then assisting 2-3 hours with a short dog walk, painting nails, arts and crafts – including the young ladies family of dolls, to which she is very attached. Visits to the park, beach and shops will be required when the weather permits. There is an element of personal care involved for the young lady, therefore the position is only available to Female candidates. Exception under the Equality Act (2010).
The contract is a minimum of 7.5 hours per week, with the possibility of occasional sleepovers (by prior arrangement), to allow parents to have time away once settled into the position. The pay rate is £12.00 per hour with 5.6 weeks annual leave
Experience with Autism would be helpful but not essential and the job could suit a student or young person or someone young at heart. A DBS is required for this position and the cost will be reimbursed on a successful appointment.
