A gentleman with Advanced Parkinson’s Disease is looking for a Personal Care Worker for 72 hours per month, worked as 24 hours one week, then 12 the next (alternate).
The role involves working on a one to one basis with the gentleman to achieve the best quality of life by assisting to maintain interests, engage in community life and meet all personal care and health needs.
The successful candidate will join a small team of carers.
The hours available are:
Week 1 & 3: Thursday & Friday 1 pm – 7 pm
Week 2 & 4: Saturday & Sunday 9 am – 3 pm
(An average of 18 hours per week)
Job Description:
1:1 care, including all aspects of personal care, dressing, peg medication/food administration, meal preparation ie puree foods and light domestic duties. The gentleman is a wheelchair user which requires experience with hoist transfers (moving and handling).
The role also asks the PA to support, help and interact with the gentleman, allowing him to engage in his interests such as gardening, cooking, attending local social groups and music.
The ideal candidate must have experience in personal care, able to drive as the gentleman has a wheelchair adapted vehicle, experience with Peg Medication administration would be an advantage, but not essential as training would be given, as this procedure is required every 2 hours.
Applicants must have access to a vehicle as the bus service in the area is very poor.
A DBS and references are required.
The rate of pay is £13.00 per hour with time and a half for bank holidays and 5.6 weeks’ holiday entitlement (pro-rata).
