We are looking for a Personal Support Assistant to support a wonderful, engaging young man who has a diagnosis of Angelman Syndrome, which affects his learning, communication, behaviour and sleep.
He has severe asthma and is allergic to grass, pollen, penicillin and dust. He always carries and EpiPen with him to be use in an emergency.
His verbal communication is limited, can become frustrated and has some behavioural issues at times.
The hours are: 20 hours per week (39 weeks per year term time)
26 hours per week (13 weeks school holidays)
Term Time – 39 weeks
Mornings:
Monday to Friday – 8.00 – 09:30 am on a 1:1 to support in the home and to get to school.
Teatime support:
Collect him from school 3 times a week (days to be arranged) 3pm – 6pm
Weekend support – 52 weeks per year.
5 hours on a 2:1 (either Saturday or Sunday) for social support in the community.
Holiday Day Care – 13 weeks per year (14 weeks in 2026)
8 hours on a 2:1 for social support in the community.
10 hours per week on a 1:1 staffing to support him & Mum on family days out.
The rate of pay is £13.25 per hour (due to be upgraded)
His interests are: Playing on his PlayStation, going out for walks, 10 Pin Bowling and being in the car for a drive.
He benefits from male support as he responds well to the company of men.
It’s important that the PA has lots of energy, a bubbly personality, easy going and have similar interests.
Also important are:
• Able to drive and hold a full driving licence.
• Excellent communicators
• Reliable and trustworthy.
• Able to make risk assessments.
• Able to safely administer medication in line with health care advice.
• First Aid
• Allergies and administration of EpiPen in line with his Allergy Care Plan.
• Behaviour support and de-escalation.
