Young Persons Support Worker – Northallerton – D682

A Young Persons Personal Support Worker is required to take out an 11 year old boy who has development delay across all areas of his development, to enhance his social activities.
The young man is cheeky, funny, mischievous and very sociable and loves to interact with other people. He has limited speech and struggles to communicate effectively at times, although he is able to communicate via Makaton and using an iPad and clicker communicator. He has no concept of danger and at times has challenging, mischievous behaviour.

The hours are fairly flexible and averaged out between weekly and extra hours during the 13 weeks school holidays. Hours required are: 2-3 hours 2-3 times per week (after school) and 5 hours on a Saturday or Sunday twice a month. During the 13 weeks school holidays there are an extra 10 hours ( 2x 5) per week to take him out.

The young man loves football, trampolines, going to parks and being outdoors and active.

The ideal candidate must be a car owner with a clean driving licence, have experience with working with children with special needs. It would be useful if had some knowledge of Makaton and was open to learning how to use the iPad and communication book.

The rate of pay is £10.00 per hour with a 45p per mile allowance (whilst taking him out)

A DBS is required for this position.
