ooking for a caring, compassionate, good-natured individual with a great sense of humour who will enjoy working with, interacting with and supporting a young severely disabled man for 30 hours per week, with his daily living activities and outings.
Applicants must be warm and friendly, have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for providing focused support for this young man’s specialised, complex and individual needs; proven experience in working with special needs and developmental disabilities, in either a paid or voluntary capacity desirable.
Responsibilities to include: Organise and assist planned/routine respite outings; Day centre transport; daily assistance with, shopping trips, eating out, events, swimming, train and bus rides, cinema etc. [oh! must like going to McDonald’s, a lot!]; Assist with AAC, social networking and communicating with family and friends; Assist with personal care (washing, dressing, eating and toileting); safe lifting, transferring, re-positioning and movement; Observe, monitor, record, physical and emotional well-being. Must be flexible and able to work some evenings and weekends, self-motivated, well-organized and able to work both independently and as part of a team; DBS Essential.
For Motability purposes, applicants are required to be over 25 years-old with a clean driving licence and be confident in driving a van-sized adapted Motability vehicle; bussing and de-bussing training will be provided.
Up to 30 hours per week (flexible) available rate of pay £13:00 per hour plus statutory 5.6 weeks (pro-rata) holiday, statutory sick pay; must have means to reliably travel to and from place of work
