Job Title: Family Support Assistant x 2
Location: Cayton, Scarborough
Salary: From £14.30 p/hr
Hours: Initially 8 hours per week until training is completed, rising to cover 35 hours per week (to be split between 2 Support assistants).
Shifts will include:
1 x 12 hour waking night per week (alternate 1 weekend day and 1 week day)
1-3 mornings per week 6.30 am till 9.30 am, the remaining hours to be negotiated.
We are a small, friendly family seeking a compassionate and reliable Family Support Assistant to join our household. The role will primarily involve supporting a mother, her two children— a 9-year-old boy with additional medical and developmental needs and a 7-year-old girl along with 2 affectionate small dogs. You will be providing assistance with daily routines, personal care, and encouraging independent learning while fostering a nurturing, safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily care and hygiene for both children, with a focus on the 9-year-old boy’s medical and developmental needs
- Support with getting the children ready for the day, including personal hygiene and dressing
- Encourage independent learning and help with educational activities
- Accompany the family on outings and ensure safe, enjoyable experiences
- Support with bedtime routines and overnight stays
- Medical duties such as operating a feeding pump (training will be provided)
- Provide emotional and physical support to ensure the well-being of both children
Requirements:
- A valid driving license (essential)
- Previous experience in a care role (either personal or professional) is preferred but not essential
- Compassionate, patient, and understanding nature, especially when supporting children with additional needs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with the family
- A flexible and positive approach to tasks and challenges
