Male Family Support Worker – Scarborough – D187

A Fun, Energetic and busy family require a similar minded Male Support Worker, with the care and development of their 2 sons who are both Autistic, one a teenager and his younger brother in Scarborough.

Their mother who has some disabilities also requires help with shopping and household chores.

The hours are up to 120 per month.

The care and support is within the home & community environment, supporting them with their chosen activities such as swimming & gaming, and often fun Nerf battles and trampolining.

The teenage son who is virtually non verbal and can display occasional challenging behaviour. He requires 2:1 support at all times.

The younger brother who has a very loving and happy nature has P.D.A (Pathological Demand Avoidance) syndrome, requires 1:1 support.

The successful applicant must have a young attitude and enjoy being part of this family unit and able to help them to develop life skills and support them to access social activities. Other duties include household chores, such as cooking, tidying up, changing bed linen & laundry duties. There may also be occasional support with respite care.

The applicant must like dogs, as there is a large friendly dog in the home, be able to drive, and can swim (due to activity support)

The hours to be covered are generally: 7.30 till 9 am, then 3 pm till 8/9 pm (weekdays) & weekends 10 am till 8 pm.

A rota is regularly updated to suit both family & staff .

Some experience in restraint training would be an advantage, although specialised restraint training will be given.

Essential for this position is an NVQ in Health and Social care , Autism Awareness and a current enhanced DBS .

There is a mileage allowance in the budget, therefore the applicant must have use of a car, and have business use on their insurance.

The rate of pay is £10.90 per hour.

The start date for this position will be as soon as possible.
